Stu Levy

Golden Gate Bridge #176 (Sailboat and Shadow), 1994

selenium toned gelatin silver print 66/75

Portland-based photographer Stu Levy studied with Ansel Adams and has had over 20 one-person shows. He has taught at numerous workshops, including the Ansel Adams and Bruce Barnbaum Workshops and his own Shore Acres Workshop on the Oregon Coast. His work most often explores the dramatic natural features of his native Oregon and the landscapes of the American Southwest. In addition, he has produced a series of complex "gridportraits," large arrays of 20 or more images assembled to show artists in their working environments, often with humorous or surrealistic overtones. Levy is represented in galleries in Oregon and New Mexico.
