A native of Ohio and an Oregonian since 1976, Rich has been a writer, editor and educator during his adult career and a fine art photographer for nearly 30 years. Much of that time has been devoted to chronicling the disappearing traces of Oregon's bygone days on both sides of the Cascades. He has been the recipient of project grants from Portland PhotoForum, the Oregon Arts Commission/Regional Council and the Madison Avenue Project in Corvallis, and has served as artist-in-residence at the Sitka Center for Art & Ecology, the Spring Creek Project and the Crossroads-Carnegie Center in Baker City. Rich has been exhibiting his work at galleries, museums and art centers around the Northwest since the 1980s. His next show in Eugene will be at the UofO Museum of Cultural and Natural History, where he will be exhibiting his "Tidewaters" series from July to November 2012.
