Joel Pickford
Atchafalaya River, 2003
carbon monochrome print
Joel Pickford's large format, black and white images are intense and meticulously controlled works of art. His decade-long project, Le Monde Creole, documenting the lost Creole world of southern Louisiana, is a poetic elegy to past grandeur and decay. His portfolios of African portraits, Japanese urban scenes and portraits, architectural studies, and other projects all reveal the photographer's concentration on line, form and placement. Pickford's work has appeared in Black & White magazine and can be found in many public and private collections. |
