Hal Gage formally studied drawing and
painting at University of Alaska Anchorage. In 1977 he was introduced
to photography. Since the early 80s, Hal Gage’s photographic and mixed
media artwork has been exhibited extensively in Alaska, the contiguous
Forty-Eight, and in England, Europe, Russia and East Asia. His images
are in such collections as: Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center; Pratt
Museum; Alaska State Museum; the University of Alaska Museum of the
North; and is in the Houston Museum of Art's permanent collection.
Among other distinctions, Gage has been twice honored with a Rasmuson
Foundation Individual Artist Fellowship. and received the International
Sony World Photography Award for landscape photography.
