Alan Ross

Ansel Adams at Home, 1975/1986

gelatin silver print

Alan Ross is known for his tonally exquisite black and white images of the American west. He worked side-by-side with Ansel Adams as his photographic assistant, and knows Adams' approach and technique perhaps better than any other photographer today. Ross was exclusive printer of Adams' Yosemite Special Edition negatives, each print made by hand from the original negatives using traditional darkroom techniques. Ross's images are in public and private collections across the U.S.
