Recent iPhone Photography
by Susan Bein
exhibition -- February 4-28, 2014
at the Emerald Art Center in Springfield
I've been photographing for almost fifty years. I began in very traditional ways, taking classes from Ansel Adams, Minor White, Aaron Siskind and Paul Caponigro, and using large format film. The equipment I use has always been secondary, but the transition to digital cameras, and now iPhones has made photography more spontaneous, allowed instant feedback and made the whole process more creative and fun. I photograph a variety of subject matter, but find people and animals the most compelling subjects, so I've limited this exhibit to portraits taken with the iPhone.
