Dan Powell is associate professor and head of the photography area at the University of Oregon. He has worked extensively with studio constructed imagery as well as photographing the Western United States and sites in the Mediterranean. His work has been widely exhibited since 1977 and has won prestigious national awards such as a National Endowment for the Arts Grant in 1980. Powell's work is in the permanent collections of the Polaroid Corporation, the Portland Art Museum, the Houston Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago and other collections in the U.S. and abroad.
