Thomas Golden, fine art photographer born in Portland, Oregon. Graduated from Mt. Hood Community College in 2003 and Portland State University in 2006.
I enjoy all types of art, but have an affinity for photography. While in high school I wrote a letter to Ansel Adams to tell him how much I enjoyed and appreciate his work, and to my surprise he wrote me back to thank me for taking the time to comment on his photographs. I got my start at a very young age by selling Christmas Cards and saving enough money to buy my first point and shoot camera. It was the beginning of a life-long passion. I started out by taking photographs of family functions, events, and anything else I thought was interesting. In high school I took four years of photography classes and continued to take classes in College. In college I met a writer who helped me get a job as a photographer for the Portland Observer. Later, for a short time I relocated to Seattle, Washington, and took hundreds of photographs of the city, the people, and the surrounding landscape. Eventually I moved to Santa Monica, California where I worked with the Santa Monica Observer. Later, I helped-out a friend as an freelance photographer covering the Pre-Grammy's Show and also worked as the Photo Editor and Instructional Assistant at the Los Angeles Valley College and photographer for the Crown Magazine. I moved back to Portland and took a job as the Instructional Assistant in photography at Mt. Hood Community College. |
