I've been a working photographer for nearly 35 years. I learned photography as a boy from my grandfather, a printer by trade and a passionate photographer. Like my father and grandfather, my career has focused on the continued pursuit of the technical best reproduction of images.

Since 1988 I've worked as a printer, lab tech, photographer and in sales at the Portland photo institution, Citizen's Photo. From behind the counter at Citizen's, I've been an official technical advisor for many photographers and academic photo programs in the Portland area.

The print I donated to the auction is part of a body of work I have been working on for the past 12 years the "Discovering" series. I started photographing the busy industrial neighborhood I've worked in for the past 25 years at Citizens Photo. The images highlight the abstract beauty of seemingly ordinary surroundings. To get a rich, dense, layered color print, I used color negative film and printed them on Fuji Crystal Archive paper.

My photographic work is primarily studio still life and fine art landscape images.
