Tom Kirkendall is a child of the earth. His first real memories are of the outdoor world. Vivid impressions of hiking in the Sierra Mountains with his family starting at age six, collecting worms during rain storms or exploring the unexplored acres of woods behind his home has shaped his view of the world. Tom turned to the camera to record his personal feelings of the world he passes through and to share with others. A student of large format black and white imagery his photos are a perfect blend of a Bruce Barnbaum composition, expression of Dave Aharronian, the insight of Minor White with the essence of Morley Bear all coming together to create an original Tom Kirkendall vision on photographic paper.
