Barry Shapiro has been actively involved with photography for more than 40 years. He studied at Pratt Institute in New York, under Phillip Perkiss and Arthur Freed, where he earned his BFA in Photography and illustration. He also studied with William Giles in an Otis/Parsons-Los Angeles Master Class in 1986.
In 2007, Mr. Shapiro moved to Silverton, where he became an active member of the Lunaria Gallery, participating in group and one-person shows. Additionally, he has exhibited at the Borland Gallery in Silverton and at the Newspace Gallery in Portland, Oregon. He has also exhibited his work - both traditional photographic images and his exploration of digitally composed photo-montages - at the Project Space Gallery, in conjunction with the Salem Art Association. Past exhibitions include the Worcester Museum of Art, Worcester, Massachusetts, and The International Photo-Optical Show. In 2010, Mr. Shapiro organized the June Drake Center, dedicated to the photographic arts, in Silverton. Barry Shapiro web site |
